Dr. Keith Long Presents at Fellowship Forum

Dr. Keith Long, a postdoc in the Precision Antimicrobial Lab, delivered an oral platform presentation entitled, “Dual-aminoglycoside combinations targeting carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae,” at the 40th Annual Fellowship Forum in Orlando, Florida. The forum was conducted in conjunction with the Making-A-Difference in Infectious Diseases Meeting and the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Annual Meeting.

Dr. Long's project was funded by an R21 from the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases awarded to Drs Zackery Bulman and Yury Polikanov (Co-PIs) titled, "Structural, functional, and microbiological exploration toward synergistic dual aminoglycoside combinations" (R21AI182709-01). This structural, functional, and microbiological project is the first to examine dual- aminoglycoside combinations against MDR Gram-negative bacteria, solve the structure of multiple aminoglycosides simultaneously bound to the bacterial ribosome, and provides critical insights into their mechanism of synergy.
